EPHEMERAL ESCAPE
about.
Ephemeral Escape proposes a reimagined bathing box as a shared environment for humans and Monarch Butterflies. Inspired by Grayson Perry’s philosophy of identity, storytelling, and craftsmanship, alongside the butterfly’s life cycle of metamorphosis and migration, the project explores themes of transformation, rest, and multispecies coexistence within a coastal context.

creature & human perspectives.
The bathing box is designed as a space that accommodates both human inhabitation and butterfly movement. A central passage tube enables free entry and exit for butterflies, while flowers, branches, and organic elements support rest and navigation.
For human users, twisted seating, cocoon-like forms, and fabric installations create moments for pause, reflection, and retreat. Flowing walls and soft thresholds guide movement through the space, allowing both users to coexist within a shared spatial system.

spatial drawings.
The spatial drawings communicate the organisation, scale, and structure of the bathing box. The floorplan, elevations, and section clarify circulation, thresholds, and the relationship between interior and exterior, illustrating how form, movement, and light shape the shared environment.
